The 2008 Asian Symposium on Lactic Acid Bacteria in Industry and Research aims to discuss recent results of LAB-research and innovatons in the industrial utilization of the bacteria. Topics of interest include but they are not limited to.

- Genetics and molecular biology of LAB
- Traditional application of fermented products in human and veterinary medicine
